I could not be happier to share Kaitlyn & Jake’s Arabia Mountain engagement session with y’all! This has been a dream location for me to shoot in the past year, and a couple of weeks ago, we were able to make this dream a reality! In Kaitlyn’s initial email she said, “Our families love Jesus, football and anything southern related.” I knew from the start that we were a match made in heaven! And the story of how Kaitlyn and Jake met is an incredible one. Kaitlyn has grown up doing pageants, but a pageant she attended her senior year of high school is probably her most memorable one.
“Jake and I met about five years ago, so back up five years ago I was a senior in high school and he was a freshmen in college. About six months before we met his sister, Madison, passed away in a four wheeler accident. At this point I had no idea who Jake was, I had heard about a friend of mine’s best friend passing away in an accident but didn’t know it was Madison. Kacey (who was Madison’s best friend) and I competed in beauty pageants together for years. Kacey was competing at a pageant in Atlanta and wanted me to come support her, which I did. She had also invited Jake and his mom to the pageant. After that night I got a message on Facebook from a guy named Jake Young asking me if I had a date to my senior prom. Great way to start a conversation, I know! Haha, Kacey had informed him that I didn’t have a date, so he should use that to start a conversation with me. From that point on we never stopped talking. After putting two and two together that he was the brother of Madison, whom had just lost his sister 6 months prior. We were each other’s saving grace, I helped him through a very dark time in his life and he did the same for me. We laugh, love and cry together. He is my everything!”
Kaitlyn and Jake have such a sweet love. It is so evident how much they adore one another, and they complement each other perfectly. Over the past six years, they have grown so much together, and it is so beautiful to witness. From the very start of their session, Kaitlyn and Jake were so comfortable in front of the camera. They laughed a lot, and you can just see the love overflowing from them! The thing that stood out to me the most was how they honored their lost loved ones in their engagement session. Kaitlyn & Jake brought a picture of Jake’s sister, and Kaitlyn had a flag honoring her Veteran grandfather. This is such a testament to these two. Honoring those who are so important to them in such a touching way is something that I will never forget.
And let me just tell y’all, shooting at Arabia Mountain was WELL worth the wait!! There’s an incredible, open field with the cutest old barn. I could’ve taken pictures there for hours!! On top of all of that, there’s the actual mountain! Arabia Mountain is a bald mountain, and with all of the leaves changing, we had stunning views of all of the leaves! Kaitlyn and Jake were such troopers hiking to the very top, and I am so thankful that we did!
Kaitlyn & Jake, I am already giddy for your wedding next Fall! I am so thankful for y’all, and I can only imagine how beautiful your marriage is going to be!!
So much love,
